Christmas Cheer and Infidelity. Ho. Ho. Ho.
My brother flew in to Tokyo to spend the Holidays here, and the past few days have been a lot of fun. It's also been a back-breaking bitch, but considering the fact that I haven't had this level of conversation in about 9 months, showing him around the city is a small price to pay.
In any case, we were at a pub in Kabuki-cho last night (The Hub), and spent the night just drinking and talking. One of the topics we eventually touched on was Infidelity (which amuses me because we were originally talking about stag parties and the goings-on of one), and I was surprised to find that we had extremely different opinions about it.
He was of the opinion that sex was just sex, and so long as the proverbial affair was locked solely on matters of the 'body', it didn't count as infidelity. It only counted as infidelity if you fell in love with the person you were fucking around with, because at the end of the day you were still going home to your wife or girlfriend.
I, on the other hand, was of the opinion that if you fucked somebody else whilst you were in a relationship, then that counted as infidelity. It doesn't matter if she was just paid entertainment, a prostitute, or someone you actually were in love with. The insertion of cock into a vagina = Infidelity to me.
And the funny thing is that I totally agree with the fact that sex is just sex. It's your body, not your mind, and to be honest, all human beings need it to survive. Sleep around, experiment, do what you like. *But* you should do it while you're single. I honestly have nothing against players so long as they're not making an ass out of their wife or girlfriend back home.
If you want to fuck around, then live the life of a single person. I mean, getting to fuck around with no consequences is what being single is all /about/. If you want to live that kind of life but still have your wife to fall back on, that's like having your cake and eating it, too. (Unless of course both of you are swingers or are in an open relationship, in which case everything is fair game.) But going behind the back of someone you claim to love AND arguing that you're not cheating on them because you're not in love with the hooker you picked up... well. That says ASSHOLE to me.
I wish we'd talked about it longer so I could actually understand his point of view more, but he changed the subject pretty quickly after I'd said my piece. We don't often get into heated debates about anything, and avoidance is probably why.
Thoughts?
